My first impression of these binoculars is that they are too big for me. I’m a small woman and clearly, my eyes are too close together
Pulling out the eye cups helps but though the optics are fine, the weight and magnification mean you get a lot of shake, even if you are used to bins. I own a 20 year old, lightweight pair of 8 x 24 Olympus binoculars which I love will continue to use, and I’ve since purchased a very nice Opticron travelscope and tripod. I haven’t yet discovered any way to attach the 12 x 50s to a tripod so I’ve given them to my beefy partner for hide use. For the price these are not bad but the case and caps are rubbish.

I’ve owned these binoculars for a year now, and have been delighted with them. A really good, bright image. They’re so good I’ve just ordered another pair for my wife!

I bought this primarily for star gazing. A good beginner level piece as there are other companies that manufacture higher magnification pieces. However its still good value for money and the build quality is of the high standards one expects of olympus.

A very high standard binocular, amongst the best in its price range and substantially cheaper than a high street price of up to £170.
Bright and clear optical performance is aided by BAK-4 prisms, and multi coated lenses. UV protection also. Hard rubber armoured body with an ergonomic design make them comfortable to hold, and the black body colour adds to the professional appearance. Long eye relief is a real plus, these can be adjusted. 50mm lenses add greatly to hand held stability, and 12 x magnification is still practical hand held, although there is a standard 5mm thread for a tripod mount, which will be great for basic astronomy.
Be reassured you are buying from a trusted brand name and the great value Amazon offer.

I agree with the previous reviewers about the quality of these binoculars at the price they are offered. Compared to previous bino’s I have owned the Olympus has great magnification, brightness and stability. The real plus for me is the adjustable long eye relief for use with my spectacles. If I have one quibble it is that the carry case and the Objective lens covers are of poor quality and to all intents and purposes completely useless. It could also be the reason why they are cheaper than equivalent instruments. But, do not let this put you off buying the binoculars as a second hand case and lens covers of the required quality for field use can easily be obtained.
